The data promise

Your data, your terms. Always.

Every profile on describe.me is opt-in by design, anonymised by default, and yours to delete in one click. Here's how that works in practice — and the rights, protections and choices behind it.

Our commitments to you

Three things we always do.

Anonymised by default

Recruiters see your skills, experience and aspirations — never your name or contact details. Your identity stays private until you choose otherwise, for a specific role.

You control every request

When a recruiter wants to connect, you see the full context — the role, the company, the opportunity — before deciding whether to share your details. Every single time.

Delete anytime

One click in Account Settings removes your profile and all associated data from the platform. No hoops, no delays, no quiet retention.

How it works in practice

From your profile to a matched opportunity.

1

You build your profile

Upload your CV or build it in the app. We extract your skills, experience and achievements — and they're yours to edit, refine or remove at any point.

2

We analyse & match

Our matching engine assesses your profile against live market data and matches roles to your aspirations — automatically, in the background.

3

Recruiters see an anonymised profile

Verified recruiters can browse anonymised profiles. They see what you can do and where you want to go — never who you are.

4

You decide what's shared

When a recruiter requests access, you see the full opportunity first. Only your explicit "yes" reveals your personal data — in context, for that specific role.

5

We remind you to review

Every six months we send a gentle nudge to review, update, or remove your profile. Your data stays current — or gone, if you prefer.

Why we built it this way

Because consent is the whole point.

Career data sits at the heart of who you are professionally. The way it's collected, stored and shared shapes what opportunities reach you, what's said about you behind the scenes, and who gets to use your name to make a sale.

We think the answer to "who decides?" should be obvious. You. Every time. Which is why every design decision on this platform starts from opt-in — never the other way around.
